In the 1910’s when this advert appeared, it was still possible that you might ride into bandit country.

The home trainer looks like a useful accessory for your bicycle. When I showed the advert to my partner she pointed out that if I had one I’d most likely use a cyclemotor and start the engine instead of pedalling to keep fit.
